A bustling Cumbrian market town located on the boundary of the Lake District National Park, Kendal's wealth was built on the wool trade and the town was granted its Market Charter in the year 1189.
High above the town stands the ruin of Kendal Castle started in the 12th century as home of the Barons of Kendal.
